Expenditure on the start of the new school year will amount to 3000 to 5000 crowns this year, according to research. Lower inflation this year will mean the same expenses for half of Czechs. For 16 percent of parents, it will have a positive impact on their wallets, but on the other hand, expenses will increase for the same group. An American court with Donald Trump refused to yield to the demand for a change of judge who has his case in charge. Trump is accused of falsifying business records due to the payment of money to the porn actress Stormy Daniels.
The beginning of the school year costs more than 5000 crowns for a quarter of parents. Almost a third will spend between 3000 and 5000 crowns. The most is paid for shoes and clothing for children, followed by school supplies, textbooks, clubs and sports activities. Lunches and snacks or transport also have a significant share. This is from a survey conducted by the agency Ipsos for the Czech Banking Association, as written by the server Ceskenoviny.cz.
"People have been watching prices more closely for larger school supplies purchases due to the economic situation over the last two years. Inflation has negatively affected 45 percent of parents when planning school expenses. Nearly a quarter of them stated that they have cut spending on school or extracurricular activities for children due to inflation,"
said Zdenka Hildova, director of CBA Educa.
The lawsuit with Donald Trump, which concerns the falsification of his business records to conceal the payout to porn actress Stormy Daniels, is heading towards a key verdict and possible conviction. He refused to yield to Trump's demand for a judge's change, who has his case in charge. Trump argues that the judge is in a conflict of interest because his daughter works as a political advisor to rival Democrats, including presidential candidate Kamala Harris. The judge's daughter Loren Merchan, however, only met with Harris in 2019 and never actually worked for her, the agency AP wrote.
North Korea plans to reopen to tourism nearly five years after completely closing its borders due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Travel agencies Koryo Tours and KTG Tours stated that selected groups will be allowed to visit the mountainous city of Samjiyon, the alleged birthplace of the late North Korean leader Kim Jong Il, from this winter. Samjiyon is located at the Chinese border at the highest peak of the Korean Peninsula, Mount Paektu. This active volcano has historical significance for both the DPRK and South Korea, as it is considered the cradle of the Korean people, according to the TV station's CNN website.
A study published in the journal Nature revealed that the massive sandstone slab, which represents the Stonehenge Altar Stone, was brought to the site from northeast Scotland. That is from a distance of about 750 kilometers. All this suggests that Britain was at that time home to a highly organized and well-connected society, scientists said. For more than 100 years, it was assumed that the altar stone came from much closer Wales, wrote the television portal Al Jazeera.
